FOOTSTEPS OF THE FOOL: The Romance of Awakening

Welcome to the world of uncertainty, fellow wanderer…
Have you seen the world above, beneath and between your own on your journeys, yet?
Have you seen the roles we play?
Have you seen the stories we tell?
We are all children learning how to live alongside the world.
We do not know objective truth, that is not for us to know.
That is the realm of omniscient beings.
That is the realm of the gods.
We are shackled to our minds.
No matter how expansive our minds have grown or the number of perspectives we have accrued in our life time.
Bound to this mortal ego shall we be until the day we die.
Yet we shall always be part of something greater than us…
Have you seen it, dear wanderer?
Upon the spaces of the void, we are stars.
Scattered, yet whole… Separate, yet one.
Forever linked to the great collective dream.
Step lightly when the wind wishes to blow you off of the trail.
Run laughing into the fields when the gentle breeze accompanies you.
To live in harmony and sincerity is to play our original part.
What matters in this world is one’s conviction.
Do what you ought to do.
Be who you ought to be.
Everyone is simply playing the roles they have given themselves, for better or for worse.
Everyone is just as clueless as you are.
The footsteps of the fool is to know that you don’t know.
All are individual instruments of a great song upon the vast silence and stillness.
We have our parts, and we have our stories.
The lunatic’s wisdom is to realize that all is chaos contained.
Delve into all worlds with open eyes, fellow wanderer, and see for yourself…
All is one, and one is all.
All is light dancing upon the dark.
Go forth, Hero… And see your greatest of destinies unfold under the light of true sincerity.

‘We are shackled to our minds.
No matter how expansive our minds have grown or the number of perspectives we have
accrued in our life time. ‘
These lines made me feel that jolt and ache of bitter truth, loved them!
‘Bound to this mortal ego shall we be until the day we die.
Yet we shall always be part of something greater than us…’
the contradiction in these above lines was the reason of the jolt, I found both to be true and how we humans often sway; either with experiences or with influence. The first thought I had was-” yes, we humans often like to assume that ‘I’ am unique and ‘my thoughts’ are different then we meet others and find similarities and feel blessed to have individuals that ‘understand’ us.” but, the truth of the matter is, we are all different yet similar. A paradox.
and then, Dr. Carl Jung’s theory sprung to my mind- “The Collective Consciousness”.
these were my views.
great read!

Thank you for your insight, Phalsapha, exactly so. Jung was an incredible man… The more and more I learn about him, the more and more do I find my musings similar to his, further illustrating this underlying and overarching phenomenon.

“The footsteps of the fool is to know that you don’t know.”
According to Socrates, we know we are intelligent when we realize that we don’t know anything.
According to A Course in Miracles, we are living a world of (often deceptive) perceptions, but when we are ready, we will enter the world of knowledge, the world of omniscience.
Are either of these views correct? I don’t know for sure, but I perceive that they might be.

From my own experience, awareness, not knowledge, is of the truest path, for awareness is empathy, and empathy is what we call love. To be is the experiential existence of the individual moving into the collective, and the collective is truth. I will punctuate that I am a fool and I know nothing. Thank you for the read, my friend. I wish you well on your journey.

I recently started to read this book that’s abundantly opened my perspective in an almost companion-like way. Your poem reminds me of it so much it feels like you are living out it’s essence. I wanted to Thankyou for the follow, and also for being one of the souls who shares yourself and your experiences/mindset/creativity. I’m very new on my journey and don’t know much about the historical evidence of this life’s lessons and how it ties into the characters and quotes mentioned above, but I do know that your poem made sense to me in a very positive and powerful way and so I thank you for that too.

Thank you so much for you compassionate and insightful words, leanndria. The further along the path, the clearer it becomes because the simpler it gets. Making one’s way out of the dark, one begins to realize that the dark had many things hiding within the shadows of our own mind, but the closer one gets to the light do we realize that there was nothing to be afraid of after all.
